Pavel Hrabánek

Pavel Hrabánek (1946), czech violinist and composer of contemporary music, studied violin and later composition in his native Prague at the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts. He graduated in 1985 with his symphony The Dove. 

Hrabánek currently plays the violin in the Prague Municipal Symphony Orchestra FOK. As a composer, he focuses in particular on works for solo instruments and chamber ensembles, applying his everyday knowledge of and experience with the sound and technique of musical instruments. 

He has also written vocal and symphony compositions.

Hrabánek has been recognized at several national composition competitions, and his works have been performed at Prague´s "Days of Contemporary Music" festival and have been recorded for Czech Radio. 

His compositional style is rooted in the legacy of the 20th-century modernists, in particular the avant-garde of the 1920s. In addition, Hrabánek is also interested in electronic and computer music.
